Why the name Pronghorn Expeditions?

Pronghorns just don’t get enough credit around here.

Pronghorn are the fastest land animals in the U.S. and evolved exclusively in western and central North America. Antelope don’t live anywhere in the U.S.

Pronghorn are NOT the same as antelope, but when settlers came to the Glen Canyon region, they mistook pronghorn for antelope, which populate Africa, Europe, and Asia.

This misnaming has stuck in the region. Many prominent features in Page, Arizona are named after the antelope such as Antelope Island and the famous Antelope Canyon on Lake Powell.

In homage to the pronghorn that call this place home, we named our company after the elusive and beautiful creatures that dominate the West.
